Quran 2:27

— Hamidullah

Who break the covenant of Allah after contracting it and sever that which Allah has ordered to be joined and cause corruption on earth. It is those who are the losers.

— Sahih International

Matthew 7:23

— Louis Segond, 1910

And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Cast largesse, and be merry!" So they speak
Darkened by ignorance; and so they fall--
Tossed to and fro with projects, tricked, and bound
In net of black delusion, lost in lusts--
Down to foul Naraka. Conceited, fond,
Stubborn and proud, dead-drunken with the wine
Of wealth, and reckless, all their offerings
Have but a show of reverence, being not made
In piety of ancient faith. Thus vowed
To self-hood, force, insolence, feasting, wrath,

Whispers

Whisper of 2005-08-14, 10:00 — Babuji

The simplicity of heart – this is what all our brothers must strive for. Innate or acquired, it alone is the key that opens the most secret doors remaining obstinately closed in the absence of this major asset. It entails an infinite range of merits, including its corollary: surrender. It is all connected in this field. Divesting oneself of human vanities that seriously hinder the progress of the seeker must remain a priority. It is not about knowledge and pride, but about being exactly this – very humbly surrendered to the divine will.

"The brilliant demonstrations of the intellect and the ego are irrelevant here. Many of our aspirants have to work on this aspect, on which we will never insist enough, since it pertains to human nature.

"Everything must be considered in a true spiritual process. It cannot be otherwise, under penalty of coming up against the same handicap considerably delaying the progression. It is up to the aspirant to take care of himself, to study himself and remedy what, for him, is the undesirable hindrance in this case. Man must work on his weaknesses; the onus is on him. Our action is elsewhere, where he himself cannot do anything. The combined efforts, his and ours, give the best results. Nothing is obtained easily and he knows it – that is the way it is.

"The purpose of our repetitions is to sensitise him to what he forgets too easily, as he does not consider his own failings, seeing only what he wants to see. Working towards the elevation of mankind, is to also highlight what slows down the process. Blessed are those who can make themselves small by widely offering

a pure and generous heart, without expecting anything in return. They work for themselves; that is the main thing."
